Veterans Project
About the Cerritos Veterans Project
The City of Cerritos demonstrates a commitment to supporting veterans within its community and beyond through a range of programs and informational resources tailored to veteran needs.
The city's annual events, including Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies, serve as important occasions to honor the contributions and sacrifices of veterans and their families. By convening the Cerritos City Council along with the City's adopted 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB) to speak on veteran issues, these ceremonies provide a platform for veterans to share their experiences and insights, fostering a sense of unity and support within the community.
Furthermore, the inclusion of booths featuring topics relevant to veterans and their families enhances the practical support offered by the city, ensuring access to valuable resources and information that can aid in navigating post-service life.
Overall, the City of Cerritos' efforts to recognize, celebrate, and support veterans reflect a deep appreciation for their service and dedication, and contribute positively to the well-being of the veteran community.
Additionally, through the Community Participation Division, staff provide residents with information on the traveling Veterans Wall, and link resources like the Military Veterans Project, the Wounded Warrior Project, and help resident veterans and their families with suicide prevention, health and wellness issues, and counseling or grieving resources. For more information contact the Community Participation Division at (562) 865-8101.
A Place of Honor

A brilliant torch gleams o’er this grassy knoll,
For all veterans who kept our nation free;
‘Tis hallowed ground for the brave who paid the toll,
Who suffered or died defending liberty.
Let no timid feet tread where these pillars stand,
They bear emblems of each branch that showed our might;
This bold breed brought forth freedom in our great land,
And caused Old Glory's rise with dawn’s early light.
May all Cerritos youth inherit their pride,
And serve with honor when new conflicts begin;
May we remember what they achieved world wide,
And protect our flag from without and within!
