Cerritos Skate Park

Located at the Cerritos Sports Complex, 19900 Bloomfield Avenue, the 10,000-square foot skate park was built by the City for local skating enthusiasts at a cost of $316,724. Some $242,811 of the cost was funded by a Los Angeles County Park Bond Act.

A committee of Cerritos youths and adults helped the City and its architect design the park. The committee members included Ryan Collier, Marty Flax, Neil Flax, Debra Mall, Jamil Mall, Billy Merino, Daniel Plotnik, Zvi Plotnik, Doug Swaim, Omar Vinas, Cameron Vodegel, Taylor Walton and Tim Walton.

The park was designed by Purkiss Rose Landscape Architecture to provide a safe and challenging place for skateboarders and in-line skaters of all experience levels. The location, at the east end of the Sports Complex, north of the tennis courts, was selected with help from nearby residents and Sports Complex patrons.

The 90-foot by 120-foot park offers a dozen cement "street elements" such as benches, ramps, rails and curbs as well as pyramids, snake runs, hips and bowls. The park is enclosed by a wrought-iron fence for skateboarders and in-line skaters. (Bicycles and scooters are not allowed.)

The park was constructed by Hondo Company, Inc.

Skate Park Rules

Skaters who plan to grind the rails, get air off the pyramids or just skate smoothly at the Cerritos Skate Park should prepare to follow the park's rules:

  • Participants under 14 years of age must be supervised by an adult
  • Only skateboards and in-line skates will be permitted
  • Bicycles and scooters will not be allowed in the park
  • All skaters must use safety equipment, including a helmet, elbow and knee pads
  • Skating will not be allowed during rainy or wet conditions
  • No alcohol or drug use, loud music or profanity will be allowed
  • No graffiti or tagging in the park will be allowed
  • Skating on curbs or driveways outside the skate park or on the tennis courts is not allowed

The rules, designed for the safety of all skaters, will be strictly enforced by Cerritos Sheriff's Deputies. Anyone in violation of the rules will be guilty of an infraction under the City's Municipal Code and will be issued a ticket and fined. A first infraction is punishable by a fine of $20, plus $34 in court fees for a total cost of $54. Each additional violation of the same rule in one year is punishable by a fine of $108, including City and court fees. Signs describing the rules, which are listed below, will be posted at the park.
