Administrative Services

Drew Schneider, Director of Administrative Services

The Department of Administrative Services is a multifaceted Department which serves as a catalyst in support of the City’s many Departments and Divisions so that they can provide world class customer service to Cerritos residents, businesses, and visitors. It includes Communications, which disseminates information both internally and externally, opportunities in which to engage the public, and marketing for the City’s diverse range of programming and activities. The Finance Division manages the organization's financial planning, reporting, accounting, and auditing. The Human Resources/Risk Management sector focuses on employee relations, recruitment, training, and the identification and mitigation of potential risks. The Management Information Services (MIS) team ensures the efficient operation of technology systems and the security of information. Additionally, Support Services provides support and oversight of the procurement and contracting lifecycle, while Water Billing manages the invoicing and payment processes for water usage. Each of these areas plays a vital role in the smooth and efficient functioning of the City.

Annie Hylton, Director of Community and Cultural Services

The Department of Community and Cultural Services provides comprehensive library, recreation and senior services. The department includes the Cerritos Library, Community Participation/Senior Services Division, and Recreation Services Division. The Cerritos Library offers library services, programs, events and exhibitions, and manages rentals of the facility. The Community Participation/Senior Services Division provides referrals to service agencies, serves as the City’s liaison to local service organizations, and organizes the City’s dignitary events. The division also provides programs and services for seniors, operates the Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park and manages rentals of the facility. The Recreation Services Division provides an adaptive recreation program; recreation classes, excursions, programs, and special events; and coordinates sports leagues and lessons. The division also manages the operations and rentals of the City’s recreation facilities, including the Cerritos Park East, Heritage Park, and Liberty Park Community Centers; Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course; Cerritos Sports Complex; Cerritos Olympic Swim and Fitness Center; and neighborhood parks.

The City’s Community Development Department includes the Advance Planning, Current Planning, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Building and Safety Divisions. The Advance Planning/Economic Development Team is responsible for maintaining the City’s General Plan and Development Code. The Advance Planning Team also provides business relocation assistance, economic development guidance, serves as the City's Liaison to the business community and administers the Business Retention and Expansion Program. The Current Planning Team administers the Cerritos Municipal Code as it relates to development plans, subdivisions, tract and parcel maps, zone changes, conditional use permits and variances. Current Planning Team members confer with and provide advice to architects, builders, contractors, engineers and the general public concerning the City’s development policies and standards. The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Team develops and maintains geocoded electronic maps of the City and provides mapping services for all City departments. The Department of Community Safety Services develops and administers programs designed to enhance public safety, crime prevention, and emergency preparedness. Community Safety Services provides oversight of the City's law enforcement program and directs the City's Code Enforcement Detail, Parking Enforcement Detail, Community Safety Officer Cadre, Animal Services program, Crossing Guard program, Latent Print program, Neighborhood Watch program, Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) program, and the City's Emergency Operations Center.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the administration and implementation of the Capital Improvement Program and for providing maintenance services to City facilities. The Department consists of four major divisions which include the Engineering Division, the Environmental Services Division, the General Maintenance Division, and the Parks and Trees Division.

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) is the Southland's premier performing arts and conference facility, offering great performances in music, dance, and theater, and unique facilities for meetings, banquets, and special events. Owned and operated by the City of Cerritos, the CCPA presents an annual season that includes more than 50 performances consisting of a wide range of artists. The CCPA has hosted performances by Donny & Marie, Jay Leno, Gladys Knight, Johnny Mathis, Dave Koz, and many others. The CCPA features a flexible theater capable of six different seating and stage configurations, ranging from a nearly 1,800-seat Arena theater to a 900-seat Recital hall setting. The Sierra Room is a perfect setting for banquets, parties, or special events. The CCPA Associates Room offers space for club meetings and small receptions. The CCPA and all of its facilities are available for rental.
