Lynda P. Johnson, Councilmember
Councilmember Lynda P. Johnson was elected to the City Council in April of 2022. She has been a resident of Cerritos since 1971.
Councilmember Johnson is a City liaison to the ABC Unified School District. She serves on the City's Los Angeles County Public Health Department and Senior Services/Senior Center committees. She is the Council's delegate to the California Contract Cities Association Board of Directors and the Southern California Association of Governments General Assembly. She is the City's alternate delegate to the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority Board of Directors, Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts Board of Directors (Districts 2, 3, 18 & 19) and Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board.
In 2023, Councilmember Johnson was appointed to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Community, Economic & Human Development Committee, representing the Gateway Cities Council of Governments (GCCOG). She received a California League of Cities presidential appointment to serve on the Revenue and Taxation Policy Committee.
Councilmember Johnson served as a member of the ABC Unified School District Board from 2011 through 2017. She is a member of the Cerritos Optimist Club, Rotary Club of Cerritos-Artesia, Soroptimist International Artesia-Cerritos and Woman’s Club of Artesia-Cerritos.
A 37-year employee of the County of Los Angeles, Councilmember Johnson was a Paralegal with the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office for 20 years. She also served as the Field Deputy to L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn as well as the Field Deputy to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva.
Councilmember Johnson attended ABC Unified School District schools, including Patricia Nixon Elementary School, Haskell Junior High School and Artesia High School.
